Gwinnett County has set its budget for 2025 at $2.67 billion. This includes $2.11 billion for everyday operations and $555 million for capital improvements, according to the Gwinnett County.
The county is increasing its budget to focus on public safety, community health, and improving infrastructure. This is made possible by funds from the Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax program. The budget boost is needed because costs for labor, materials, and services are rising for both the county and its residents, as reported by the Gwinnett County.
A key change in Gwinnett County's budget is the creation of a standalone Parks and Recreation Department, which was previously part of the Department of Community Services. "The adopted budget allows Gwinnett County Government to address local needs. While balancing increasing costs of labor, materials and services facing the County and residents alike," as stated by the Gwinnett County.
