A fatal collision claimed the life of a woman in Huffman, Harris County, when her vehicle collided with an 18-wheeler last night. The crash, which Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez says took place at the junction of Afton Way and FM-2100, involved the woman veering into oncoming traffic for reasons yet to be fully understood. According to law enforcement officials, intoxication may have played a role in the tragic incident, as reported by ABC 13.
While the specifics of the crash are still under investigation, responding deputies revealed that the female driver tragically died at the scene, while the driver of the 18-wheeler was hospitalized with minor injuries. Gonzalez remarked that the tragedy is compounded by suspicions of intoxication. The accident occurred around 9 p.m., as mentioned by Joel A. Gordon & Associates.
The name of the deceased woman has not been released pending family notification, and there has been no update on the 18-wheeler driver's condition, which was initially reported as minor injuries. As cleanup begins, a hazmat team has been called in due to a fuel spill and hazardous materials at the crash site.
