A Harvey man has pleaded guilty to charges of possessing tapentadol with the intent to distribute. U.S. Attorney Duane A. Evans announced that 34-year-old Tyran Adams pleaded guilty on Thursday last week. He was arrested on June 18, 2024, after being found with 200 tablets of the pain medication, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office release.

Adams faces a fine of up to $1,000,000, a maximum of twenty years in prison, three years of supervised release, and a $100 special assessment fee. His sentencing is set for April 24.

The case is part of the Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN) initiative aimed at reducing violent crime and improving neighborhood safety. PSN, relaunched on May 26, 2021, focuses on building community trust, supporting violence prevention efforts, and setting clear enforcement priorities. This program aims to improve safety through targeted enforcement and community-based prevention.

The case was led by the FBI - New Orleans Gang Task Force, with Special Assistant U.S. Attorney James Ollinger and Assistant U.S. Attorney Mike Trummel handling the prosecution. Public Information Officer Shane M. Jones provided details on the guilty plea and the consequences Adams faces.
