Helotes residents have another chance to voice their opinions on the city's growth plans. The City Council has announced a new date for the previously postponed public hearing about the proposed voluntary annexation of nearly 6.714 acres on Shaenfield Road. The two tracts, described as Tract 1 with 2.432 acres and Tract 2 with 4.282 acres, are located near the intersection with FM 1560 and situated within the city's ETJ—exclusive Extraterritorial Jurisdiction, as per the city's official website.
The rescheduled hearing is set for Thursday, January 23 at 7:00 p.m., and will take place in the City Hall Council Chambers at 12951 Bandera Road, in Helotes. According to the public notice, "All interested people are invited to appear and be heard on the proposed voluntary annexation." For those interested in the details, the City Staff will prepare an item report which will be available once the City Council agenda is posted—at least 72 hours before the meeting.
Citizens looking to understand the full extent of the proposed annexation can access relevant documents online. Public Hearing Notice (rescheduled), the Petition Requesting Voluntary Annexation, and an updated Location Map are all available for review. Residents who wish to have a say in the hearing, but cannot attend in person, have options as well. The city has provided instructions on how to sign up to speak at a Public Hearing or stream the P&Z/City Council Meeting online.
