Henderson’s local music scene is set for the annual Battle of the Bands competition. The City of Henderson has announced the fifth edition of the event, featuring a two-day finale at the Water Street Plaza Amphitheater. Musicians with a Nevada ID can submit applications until the deadline on February 21.
This year’s competition includes categories for different age groups. Musicians 20 and under will compete in one bracket, while those with a bandmate 21 or older will compete in a separate category. The younger musicians will perform on March 28, followed by the more experienced bands on March 29, according to a release from the City of Henderson.
Before performing on stage, bands must submit an entry video to be reviewed by the judges. Only five bands from each category will be selected to perform live at the finals. To be eligible, bands must have at least two members and be based in the Henderson or Las Vegas area, as outlined in the city's announcement.
The prizes include cash rewards for the winners in both categories. The 21-and-over group will receive $1,500 for first place, $750 for second, and $350 for third. The under-20 group will compete for $500, $250, and $150. In addition to the cash prizes, winners will have the opportunity to be booked for future events in Henderson.
Genres are not restricted, as the city invites a variety of musical styles and encourages a diverse range of applicants. For more information on judging criteria, rules, and the application link, visit the official Battle of the Bands page.
