The Honolulu Fire Department swiftly dealt with a blaze that erupted in Kalihi, targeting three outdoor storage containers on Puuwai Street. The incident, as reported by the Honolulu Fire Department on Tuesday, saw first responders jumping into action after a 911 call came in at 5:56 p.m.
With a total of 7 units and 23 personnel dispatched, the fire crew arrived at the scene at 1084 Puuwai Street by 6:06 p.m., a mere 10 minutes after the distress call. They found a working fire rapidly consuming the contents of the storage containers. Amid the smoke and uncertainty of what fueled the fire, firefighters secured a water supply to commence an aggressive fire attack. Their efforts paid off swiftly, with the situation brought under control at approximately 6:20 p.m., and the fire was declared fully extinguished by 6:41 p.m, according to the Honolulu Fire Department.
The Honolulu Fire Department is investigating the cause of the fire. Damage estimates are still unclear until the report is finished. Thankfully, no one was injured or killed, which is fortunate given the fire’s location in the busy Kalihi area.
