A fire in Kalihi that set ablaze a two-story single-family home has been extinguished, thanks to the efforts of the Honolulu Fire Department. According to an official release, a call came through to 911 at 12:23 a.m. last Wednesday, and HFD responded promptly, with 10 units and 39 personnel taking charge of the scene at 904 Winant Street.
The first responders reached the site within five minutes, confronting a structure fully involved in flames. Their strategy hinged on an "aggressive fire attack from the exterior," with the subsequent crews tasked to limit the spread of the fire to neighboring homes. During the operation, no stone was left unturned as searches were conducted to ensure the safety of individuals in any nearby structures per the official fire department statement.
With haste and precision, firefighters brought the conflagration under control by 12:42 a.m. and fully extinguished the flames at 12:58 a.m. The aftermath has displaced five occupants of the now-charred home. In response, the American Red Cross has stepped in to offer support and shelter to those affected by the incident.
Meanwhile, the HFD's Fire Investigator was called to the scene to conduct an in-depth probe into the origin and cause of the fire, details of which remain undetermined to the public at present time. The Honolulu Fire Department has not yet released an estimate on the property damage incurred by the blaze.
