Houston residents may want to brace themselves for a bout of inclement weather. According to a forecast from the National Weather Service, today's early morning patchy fog is expected to give way to cloudy skies, with a daytime high lingering near 43 degrees and blustery northwest winds that could reach 25 mph. By tonight, the clouds could part somewhat, but the temperature is forecasted to dip near freezing at around 32 degrees, though winds are expected to moderate.
Meanwhile, the folks at Click2Houston have announced that southeast Texas is in for cold, nearly constant rainfall through the night with possible street flooding south of I-10. Coastal areas might see precipitation totals of 2 to 3 inches. While the risk of freezing rain appears minimal, residents as far south as Madisonville could encounter a slippery mix and light sleet later this evening, potentially complicating travel.
As we progress into the weekend, the mercury will rise incrementally. Saturday brings some much-anticipated sunshine and a milder high near 52, favorable for the locals donning jackets to NRG Stadium. The improving conditions continue into Sunday, with a slight chance of showers, mostly sunny skies, and the temperature reaching a more comfortable 58 degrees.
According to the National Weather Service, next week's weather will consist of a consistent string of partly sunny to mostly cloudy days, with high temperatures ranging from the low to upper 50s. Nighttime will settle into the high 30s to low 40s.
