Houston Family Dispute Turns Fatal as Older Brother Allegedly Shoots Younger SiblingSource: Google Street View

A tragic escalation of a family dispute in northwest Houston resulted in a younger brother being fatally shot by his older sibling, as reported by the Houston Police Department. According to KPRC 2, the incident was the culmination of multiple disturbances reported at the family home throughout Tuesday.

Lt. Willkens of the HPD detailed to KPRC 2 that the tensions began around 6 p.m. when officers first responded to a confrontation between the man in his late-20s and his girlfriend. Although the situation initially seemed to have quelled without charges filed, the younger brother returned later to the home off Morocco Road, leading to further police involvement. In an attempt to cool off the situation, police had earlier given the man a ride to the north side of Houston.

The authorities were called back a few hours later on accusations that the younger brother threatened his girlfriend upon his return. Despite these claims, "a family member" assured the officers that no threats were made and that the younger brother had arrived solely to retrieve work clothes, as noted by FOX 26 Houston. Due to this assurance and no party willing to file charges, officers left the scene.

The situation deteriorated gravely after midnight when a third call brought officers back to the residence. The FOX 26 Houston report states that the family's mother had fainted and injured herself amid the confrontation, an event that seemed to exacerbate the argument between the two brothers. Lt. Willkens told FOX 26 that "during the argument, the mother had fainted and hit her head," prompting a heated dispute over the incident. It was during this altercation that the older brother is alleged to have pulled out a pistol and shot his brother in the torso.

Emergency services administered life-saving measures, but tragically, the younger brother was pronounced dead at the scene. Confirming the incident, Lt. Willkens disclosed that everyone present at the home is cooperating with the police investigation. Apart from the younger brother's death, no other injuries were reported.
