A significant house fire blazed through a residence in The Greater Heights area on the evening of last Wednesday. As reported by the City of Houston, the incident at the 1100 block of Yale St. at W. 11th St. drew a substantial response from the Houston Fire Department (HFD) without any injuries reported.

The fire reported at 9:06 p.m., was confronted by firefighters upon arrival as they found the 2-story house engulfed with flames that threatened two adjacent properties. With the severity of the fire, an initial search inside the home was deemed too dangerous to carry out. HFD firefighters focused on battling the main body of the conflagration from outside, while also working to prevent the fire from taking hold of the neighboring houses.

In the aftermath, HFD confirmed that no victims were found inside the property. They proceeded with foam operations during the overhaul process to stifle any potential lingering hotspots, ensuring that the fire was completely out. According to the City of Houston, utilities at the scene were managed by CenterPoint Energy, and the American Red Cross was notified to assist those affected by the fire.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by HFD Arson investigators, as mentioned in the City of Houston's release. A total of 66 personnel, including HFD crews from multiple stations and a heavy rescue unit, responded to the emergency. With the structural instability presented by the fire-damaged house, only limited sections of the second floor could be searched initially.
