A house fire in Houston's Lazybrook/Timbergrove area caused significant damage last November, according to a recent report. The incident, which occurred on the 6600 block of Cindy Ln. 77008, saw firefighters battling heavy smoke and flames protruding from a 1-story home. The blaze, which happened on November 29, 2024, at around 4:36 p.m., resulted in two firefighters sustaining injuries.
During the firefighting efforts, exacerbated by the wind, a primary search confirmed no one was trapped inside. Despite the adversity, $185,400 worth of property was successfully saved from the inferno. However, the City of Houston reports that the damage was calculated at an estimated $340,000, with the cause pointed to equipment or a heat source failure.
The Houston Fire Department reported that 53 personnel responded to the call, including several stations such as 11, 31, 15, 6, 38, 62, 30 and Heavy Rescue 11. They encountered the additional challenge of a fire in a portable building located in the backyard, which was also extinguished.
According to fire officials, one firefighter suffered a small burn, and another injured their knee. Following an evaluation on the scene, both were transported to the hospital for treatment. Rotations of firefighters worked tirelessly to control the blaze, which also called for roof ventilation and support from CenterPoint to manage utilities in the vicinity.
