A 35-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with a stabbing incident that occurred at a home on Farnsworth Street in Houston this past weekend. Joseph Anthony Abreu faces charges of aggravated assault of a family member and burglary with intent to commit another felony, as confirmed by the Houston Police Department in a news release late last night.
Authorities were called to 7328 Farnsworth Street around 3:15 p.m. last Saturday following reports of a stabbing. According to information released by the HPD, the victim, a 58-year-old woman, was found stabbed and subsequently transported to a nearby hospital where she remains in stable condition. The suspect, now identified as Abreu, is alleged to have forcibly entered the residence by kicking in the front door and then stabbed his mother during a confrontational demand for her wallet. He reportedly fled the scene before police arrived.
Following the issuance of charges by the Harris County District Attorney's Office, Abreu was located and taken into custody yesterday. A booking photo of Abreu has been made available and is attached to the original news release. The case is now expected to be presented in the 486th State District Court.
