A grim incident unfolded in Houston's Fourth Ward when an argument over an Xbox turned deadly. According to KPRC 2 Houston, the shooting occurred around 1 p.m. on Bailey Street. The altercation, police say, happened either inside an apartment or on a front porch, leading to one man dead and a woman injured.
Details obtained by KPRC 2 from a police source reveal a man brandished a firearm during the argument and subsequently shot the two victims. Dispatch audio indicated the woman, now hospital-bound, was struck in the back. While multiple calls flooded 911 after the gunshots were heard, the male victim succumbed to his injuries upon hospital arrival; the woman's condition remains serious but stable.
Footage from a neighborhood surveillance camera appears to have caught parts of the dispute, wherein a voice can be heard exclaiming, "Why you took that man’s f****** game?" followed by, "They both going to jail, how about that?" A male figure in a lime green hoodie was also seen fleeing the scene post-shooting, though police have not officially deemed him a suspect, as reported by KPRC 2.
The suspected shooter reportedly arrived in a Hyundai vehicle with at least two individuals inside, including the shooter and a driver. After the incident, the car was deserted, and a gun was later retrieved from inside the vehicle by police. The identity of the man who was killed, said to be in his 20s, has yet to be disclosed.
