Houston authorities have apprehended one man and are seeking another in connection with a shooting incident that took place on December 20, 2024, as reported by City of Houston News. The shooting at 8118 Martin Luther King Boulevard, which occurred shortly before 7 p.m., resulted in one victim, a 40-year-old man, being wounded and transported to a local hospital in stable condition.
With one suspect now in custody, authorities have turned their focus to finding the second suspect linked to the violent outbreak that escalated from an altercation to a shooting at a convenience store the Houston Police Department's Major Assaults Division is leading the ongoing investigation, and a description of the wanted suspect—an unknown black male, 30 to 40 years old, of thin build and with a low haircut who is often seen riding a bicycle in the area—has been publicly circulated, alongside surveillance photos. Darius Michael White, age 24, was taken into custody on December 31 on an unrelated charge but was later charged about the shooting.
In a statement obtained by the City of Houston News, HPD Major Assaults Division Detective M. Bellahna reported, "HPD patrol officers responded to an assault call at a convenience store at the above address and found the victim lying on the sidewalk." He further detailed that the victim had suffered a gunshot wound which prompted transport by Houston Fire Department paramedics to a hospital.
Following the initial investigation, authorities were able to determine White's involvement though he was arrested on a separate matter, the evidence from the December incident led to charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in the 208th State District Court; however, the individual believed to have fired the gunshot remains at large at the time of this report. The police are urging anyone with information regarding the identity or whereabouts of the second suspect to come forward and contact the HPD Major Assaults Division or to provide an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers.
