On New Year's Eve, drivers on westbound Interstate 4 experienced significant traffic congestion after a multi-vehicle collision, including a LYNX bus, near the State Road 535 exit. ClickOrlando reported the incident, which led to backups stretching toward the Universal Orlando area.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, stopping ahead of the bus in the westbound lane, the bus driver attempted an evasive maneuver. The bus driver stopped a Jeep Wagoneer but collided with the set off a chain reaction that involved a GMC Sierra and a Kia Forte. The crash, causing all westbound lanes on I-4 to be closed, later showed progress as traffic cameras closed vehicles inching along the roadway.
A passenger in the Jeep sustained non-life-threatening injuries and received medical attention at Dr. Phillips Hospital, as noted by the FHP. Details indicating the current condition of the passenger have not been disclosed at this time.
WFTV, providing additional information on the accident, mentioned that at 3:45 p.m., law enforcement, allowing cars to pass by the crash site using the emergency lane, is working diligently to clear the aftermath of the accident. Traffic was affected beyond the Universal Orlando vicinity, with significant delays for those on the road.
