Authorities in Iredell County have arrested a man on charges related to the possession of child sexual abuse material (CSAM). As per the reports from the Iredell County Sheriff's Office, Shawn Philip Pulver, 37, was taken into custody after a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) flagged potential CSAM activity linked to a local resident. QC News reported that the investigation zeroed in on Pulver, leading to the discovery of multiple files on his Kik social media account.
Following the lead on October 10, 2024, a search warrant executed on Pulver's account confirmed the presence of these files. Pulver now faces 10 felony counts of second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor. He was charged and appeared before the courts last Friday, where he was subsequently released on a $350,000 secured bond. WBTV noted that there could be more charges filed as the investigation progresses.
The Sheriff's Office has not only brought attention to the current accusations but also noted Pulver's previous misdemeanor charge for entering a restricted zone on game lands. Though this prior charge is unrelated to the current allegations, it forms a part of the narrative surrounding Pulver's encounters with the law. The ongoing investigation may lead to additional charges, as indicated by officials.
Pulver's arrest serves as a reminder of the vigilance that law enforcement, in conjunction with organizations like NCMEC, exercises in the pursuit of protecting minors from exploitation. "Deputies say additional charges may be forthcoming," highlighted an update from WCNC, underscoring the sobering possibility that the breadth of offenses may extend beyond the currently known evidence.
