Heads up, Jacksonville Beach residents and visitors: The Donna Marathon Weekend is rolling through, prompting a few inconveniences that are worth noting if you plan to move around the area. Get ready for some disruptions, as several parking lots will be shutting down and many streets will be closed to accommodate the race.
Specifically, the Seawalk Parking Lot, located at 14 1st Street North, is going to be closed from Friday to Sunday. If that's your go-to spot, you'll need to find an alternate place to leave the car. The Pier Parking Lot, found at 503 1st Street North, will only be closed on Sunday, but it's still something to plan for if you're heading out that day. These closures were announced on the official City of Jacksonville Beach website.
But it's not just about where you can't park; it's also about where you can't drive. As per the city's announcement, there will be no parking allowed on affected city streets after 11pm on Saturday, February 1st. This restriction will remain in place until the streets reopen post-race. If you forget and leave your vehicle in harm's way, it's going to take a little unplanned detour courtesy of Beach Body Towing Co. You can ring them at 904-249-9974 if you find yourself in the unlucky predicament of being towed.
