In a somber development early yesterday morning, a man was fatally shot in the driveway of a Northwest Jacksonville home. The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office responded to the scene in the 3400 block of Division Street following a distress call around 2:30 a.m. Law enforcement found the victim, a man in his 30s, with a gunshot wound. He was declared deceased at the location by emergency personnel, as cited by First Coast News.
Currently, three individuals have been detained in relation to the shooting, one of whom is believed to be the suspect, reported the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office. The police are conducting interviews, the suspect and the two others are considered as key witnesses to the event. The investigation remains active as a search warrant is awaited to possibly recover the weapon used. The identity of the man who lost his life has not been shared with the public at this point, as per the Action News Jax report.
The block where the incident unfolded was blockaded between 23rd and 25th Streets as detectives sought to understand the circumstances preceding the fatal shooting. The area, known as Jacksonville’s Grand Park, is now the center of an in-depth police investigation. "The circumstances and relationships of those involved are currently unknown," Sergeant Lloyd from the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office Homicide Unit disclosed to the press, detailing the initial confusion surrounding the case and as documented by News4Jax.
