
Jacksonville authorities have detained a 16-year-old suspect following a homicide that shocked the Westside community. The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office (JSO) reported, using their official social media channels, the arrest of a young individual in connection with the murder of 31-year-old Carlos Rivera. According to the JSO's post, Rivera was found deceased in his apartment, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
Not long after the incident, law enforcement officers apprehended Alex Reddice, a 16-year-old, who now faces charges for both murder and robbery in this unfolding case. Officials stated that their quick response was aided by a prompt witness description of the suspect, which led to the efficient tracking down and subsequent detention of Reddice. Reportedly found close to the same street as Westside High School, the victim's residence was the scene of tragic and violent outcomes. Found with gunshot wounds, Carlos Rivera's life was prematurely cut short.
With the youth in custody, he is currently being held at Duval County jail. While the JSO has not provided extensive details on the circumstances leading up to Rivera's death, they have confirmed that the Homicide Unit detectives were able to act swiftly in apprehending Reddice within a short span from the crime's occurrence.
