This morning, a three-vehicle collision involving a school bus from Mount Pisgah Middle School unfolded on the busy stretch of Macon Road near Big Orange Road. The Shelby County Sheriff's Office reported to the scene around 8 a.m., as did emergency response teams who were quickly tasked to assess injuries and control the situation. According to Action News 5, the incident began when another vehicle failed to see the bus and pulled out in front, setting off a sequence of impacts that left vehicles mangled and passengers in need of medical attention.
The consequences of the crash were serious, leaving a juvenile and a woman to be taken quickly, though in non-critical condition, to separate hospitals for treatment. Another individual, a man, was transported to Regional One Hospital. His condition was described as critical. They were subsequently examined by medical personnel and then transferred to another bus, as noted by FOX13 Memphis.
While the crash's immediate aftermath was understandably chaotic, the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the precise cause. The road where the collision occurred, a section of the 9500 block of Macon Road, is known to be a frequent thoroughfare for locals, including students attending Mt. Pisgah Middle School. Memphis Shelby County Schools confirmed that no additional student injuries were reported confirmed.
