A juvenile male has been arrested in connection with a series of burglaries at a Silver Spring tobacco shop. The series of thefts took place at the Tobacco Hut located in the 2600 block of University Boulevard West, with the burglaries occurring on December 13, December 18, and December 29, 2024. The suspect was identified and apprehended nearly two weeks after the last incident, the Montgomery County Department of Police reported.
Following a preliminary investigation by the 4th District Investigative Section, officers from the 4th District Special Assignment Team (SAT) managed to quickly and effectively arrest the juvenile last Tuesday. The arrest took place in Germantown, as stated in a police report released by the department.
The young suspect now faces charges that include four counts of second-degree burglary. Following the filing of these charges, the juvenile was subsequently released to the custody of a guardian. This case highlights ongoing concerns about youth involvement in criminal activities and how such matters are processed legally when involving minors.
