A Katy neighborhood was disrupted when a man, 22-year-old Jesus Arellano, was arrested on Friday for slashing the tires of over 30 cars. The vandalism occurred along Westwood Pines Drive and Westerpine Lane and was caught on home security cameras.

Residents affected by the incidents shared how the disturbances disrupted their daily lives, with Jordan Moore explaining to KHOU 11 the financial burden it placed on him. "You can see he just walks up, stab, stab, stab," Moore said. "Just think about it, each house gets hit, that hundreds for each tire, it's just a pain." Meanwhile, Leah Walker lamented the timing of the event: "I was like why, it's the beginning of the New Year, why do we want to start off on this foot? So it's just an inconvenience. It doesn't make us feel safe."

The destruction caused different reactions in the community, with one family finding multiple tires slashed on two of their vehicles. "I see the Rams tire popped. The other one's flat, too," said resident Jordan Moore in an interview with ABC 13. His brother, Christopher, faced the added stress as a full-time student. "I have to pay for the tire out of pocket," he said. "I'm a college student, in school full time. So yeah, I have to pay for my own tire now somehow."

After Arellano's arrest, the community felt some relief, with Sgt. P. Mikel saying, "That’s the good thing he is in custody. At least right now there’s some comfort for people in the general area in the neighborhood." Arellano is accused of vandalizing tires, with damage reports higher than expected. He was caught with the same knife seen in surveillance footage. Residents are urged to report any additional damage to authorities. Neighbor Elmer Garay described the suspect's actions as "entertainment," adding, "Honestly, it's a kid who thinks that this is a fun thing for him, I guess," and "Entertainment. I don't know what I can make of it. There's nothing that could justify what his behavior is," as stated by KHOU 11.
