
Yesterday afternoon, Kaua‘i Fire Department personnel diligently responded to a brush fire threat near the Salt Pond Beach Park. According to a press release from the County of Kaua‘i, the fire was located near Lele Road and Lokokai Road, prompting a response from the community and authorities. There was potential for disruption, but officials confirmed that no immediate threat to structures was present, and no injuries were reported.
Firefighters from the Hanapepe and Kalaheo stations, along with assets including Tender 1, Air 1, and support from private landowners and the on-duty Battalion Chief, responded to the scene. As a precaution, spectators and beachgoers were advised to voluntarily evacuate. According to a statement from the County of Kaua‘i, the Emerald Isle remained unaffected by the fire at that time, with no immediate threat to the area.
Later in the evening, the county issued an update confirming that the Kaua‘i Fire Department had brought the brush fire under control. The coordinated efforts of multiple departments and agencies had contained the fire to 4 to 5 acres of burned land, as reported by the County of Kaua‘i. Crews continued to address remaining hot spots to ensure full containment.
With the immediate danger resolved, no road closures were deemed necessary, though county officials advised the public to avoid the area as a safety precaution. The post-fire operation continued, while the land began the process of recovery.
