A Kensington man has been taken into custody and stands accused in the fatal shooting of Trevor Dean Van Devander, a Sykesville resident. The Montgomery County Police Department's 2nd District officers responded to an emergency call at around 5:40 p.m. on Monday, to find 29-year-old Van Devander with fatal gunshot wounds on the 3900 block of Franklin Street.
Benjamin Jack Dresbach, aged 21, was arrested after the incident, which occurred inside his residence during what appears to have been an altercation between him and the victim. As stated by the Montgomery County Police's press release, Dresbach is now facing second-degree murder charges and is being held without bond at the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit (CPU).
Van Devander's body has since been transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore, where an autopsy is expected to provide definitive answers concerning the cause and manner of his death. The investigation into the details of the altercation and subsequent shooting continues, and authorities have provided no additional information regarding the motive or circumstances leading to Van Devander's tragic demise.
