A Kent City man, identified as Christopher Michael Haggerty, has been sentenced to a prison term ranging from 25 to 60 years following his conviction on multiple charges of sexual assault against a minor. WOODTV reported that the abuses began when the victim was only 5 or 6 years old, enduring until she reached the age of 11. The jury found Haggerty guilty of first-degree criminal sexual conduct, and he was also convicted of knowingly engaging in sexual intercourse while carrying the HIV virus without informing his partner.
During the trial, the harrowing details came to light, including the victim's testimony wherein she recounted the threats made to her by Haggerty, saying he warned her she would "go to hell" if she disclosed their interactions, according to WOODTV. Haggerty, who was arrested back in January of last year, is now facing the consequences of his actions, which have been deliberated and delivered by the Kent County justice system.
Moreover, WZZM 13 added that the Kent County Prosecutor's Office stated the sexual abuse by Haggerty included three charges of Criminal Sexual Conduct in the 1st Degree involving a person under the age of 13, one charge of Criminal Sexual Conduct in the 2nd Degree, and the additional charge of HIV Knowingly Engaging in Intercourse with an Uninformed Partner with Reckless Disregard Without Causing HIV.
