Tensions escalated in Baldwin Hills late Monday evening when a LAPD encounter with a woman suspected of vandalism turned violent. Reports from ABC7 state that after receiving a call at 11:06 p.m. to the 3900 block of Ursula Street, officers confronted a woman who appeared to be holding a large metal grate over her head and advanced toward them.
According to the CBS News report, the incident occurred in an unoccupied apartment within an apartment complex where several windows had been broken. "The suspect was holding a large metal grate over her head and advanced towards officers," LAPD stated. "An officer deployed a TASER but it was ineffective and an Officer-Involved Shooting occurred."
Contradictory to earlier reports, the woman was indeed hit by gunfire during the incident. She was transported to a nearby hospital by Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics and is in stable condition, her identity has yet to be disclosed. No officers sustained injuries during the confrontation as per the authorities' information, as reported by ABC7.
