Art enthusiasts and community members are invited to participate in a special open house event at Las Cruces City Hall, where the Quality of Life Department and the City Art Board will showcase new art installations. The event, scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 6, invites attendees to wander through the City Hall lobby at 700 N. Main St. from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. to take in the artwork, as reported by the City of Las Cruces. To complement the visual feast, light refreshments will be available for guests.

Featured at the City Hall art display, works by a collection of notable artists will stand under the grandeur of the hall's architecture, including “Evening with Sunset Clouds” by Frank Watson, “Hollyhocks” by Vera Neel, “Worry” by Zoe Zimmerman, “Protected” by Shana Levenson, and “Desert Forms” by Thomas Tomlinson. Having their creations placed within these halls provides an apt setting for the contemplation and appreciation of their works.

The acquisition of these pieces was made possible through the New Mexico Arts’ Art In Public Places program. State-funded capital projects in Las Cruces are mandated to set aside one percent of eligible project funding for art procurement, a policy to enrich public spaces and inspire community engagement through accessible artistic expressions. The program, as managed by NM Arts, ensures that the new artworks reflect the diverse and rich culture of New Mexico.
