The cyclist, identified as 49-year-old Miguel Pacheco Mendez of Las Vegas, was riding eastbound on the south sidewalk of Washington Avenue when he attempted to cross Mojave Road within the marked crosswalk, inadvertently meeting the front of the turning Chevrolet. He sustained critical injuries as a result of the impact and was subsequently transported to UMC Trauma for medical treatment; he remains in critical condition.

The driver of the Chevrolet, 24-year-old Edgar Rodriguez, also of Las Vegas, was not reported to have sustained any injuries. Rodriguez remained at the scene following the accident and displayed no signs of impairment, as per the LVMPD's preliminary investigation findings.

The Chevrolet sustained minor damage to its front. Following standard procedure, the LVMPD Collision Investigation Section is conducting a thorough examination of the factors leading up to the collision, reviewing all relevant details.
