A severe car accident at the intersection of McLeod Drive and Palma Vista Avenue resulted in critical injuries for the driver identified as Andres Hernandez Perez, a Las Vegas resident. According to a report released by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, the collision occurred last Friday when Perez's 1997 Dodge Ram 1500 veered off the road and collided with a wall.
Initial findings suggest that the vehicle was heading south on McLeod Drive, lost control after crossing East Vegas Valley Drive, and ultimately struck a block wall off Palma Vista Avenue. Perez, 30, had to be removed from his overturned vehicle by emergency responders and was taken to Sunrise Hospital with life-threatening injuries. Police suspect that speed and impairment contributed to the crash, and as a result, Perez is facing multiple charges related to the incident.
As of this writing, the driver remains in critical condition, and the investigation by the LVMPD's Collision Investigation Section is ongoing. The LVMPD has not released further details about the criminal charges pending against Perez, or about his current condition beyond affirming its critical nature.
