Mark your calendars, League City residents. The vibe here is straightforward – we save lives, one pint at a time. Following last year's solid effort in blood donations, the League City community is gearing up for another round. With 267 units of blood donated in 2024, they managed to potentially save over 800 lives. That's no small feat, right? But wait, because this year, they're aiming higher – 1,000 lives, to be exact.
And it's not all talk. They kickstarted 2025 with a January blood drive that brought in 37 units. That's 111 lives hanging on to hope, according to League City's official website. Now, the next chance to roll up your sleeves and contribute to this mission is almost here. The upcoming community blood drive is slated for February 11 at the Johnnie Arolfo Civic Center, from 10 am to 4 pm. No need for an appointment, just rock up with the intention to give.
And because good deeds often come with a bonus, there's a little something for those who donate. The Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center is throwing in a free diabetes screening, plus a stylish quarter zip-up pullover for all February donors. It's like a pat on the back with benefits, a simple thank-you for doing your part in a mission that hits close to home for many.
