Bloomington residents looking to shrink their energy bills this winter have a chance to learn how at a series of upcoming fairs. "Power Up Your Savings" events, according to the official city website, are designed to offer clear, actionable advice to help individuals effectively manage energy costs and usage.
The resource fairs will be hosted by the City of Bloomington in partnership with the Citizens Utility Board of Minnesota and the Community Action Partnership of Hennepin County. They aim to provide the public with an opportunity to directly meet with representatives who can help them understand their energy bills, apply for energy assistance, and implement smart energy-saving practices for their homes. As reported on the city’s website, there will be complimentary snacks available, including energy bars, because no one should have to learn on an empty stomach.
As the winter bite sends thermostats climbing and energy bills soaring, advice from experts could be invaluable for those looking to curb their spending. The Penn Lake Library, located at 8800 Penn Ave. S., will be the venue for these informative sessions. The resource fairs are scheduled for Wednesdays, January 29 and February 19, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
These fairs are part of a broader initiative by the City to address rising concerns about energy affordability, especially during cold weather months. As the site puts it, attendees can "keep you fueled" with snacks as they navigate the oft-complicated world of energy savings. The hope is to empower residents with the knowledge to not only save money but also make more environmentally conscious decisions with their energy use.
