On Thursday night, Lebanon police rescued three people stranded on a burning building on Mechanic Street. The fire, reported around 11 p.m., had spread to the exterior stairway, trapping the occupants in a second-floor apartment, according to NBC Boston.
The officers quickly used a nearby vehicle, climbing onto its roof to reach the trapped residents. They were rescued safely, with "No injuries were reported," the police confirmed, as reported by NBC Boston.
The Lebanon Fire Department quickly extinguished a fire that damaged a building with apartments and the Dairy Twirl ice cream shop. Fire Chief Jim Wheatley said, "The first two companies did quick work and prevented the fire from extending to the rest of the building." The three people inside the building were evaluated at the scene and refused medical transport. No firefighters were injured. The cause of the fire is under investigation with assistance from the New Hampshire Fire Marshal's Office, as stated by WMUR.
