Lewisville is springing into its centennial year with a touchstone event to reflect a century of growth and change. In a ceremony described by the City of Lewisville, a new addition to its Heritage Walk will be unveiled in honor of the 100th anniversary of the city's founding. This event will occur today at 11:30 a.m. in Wayne Ferguson Plaza, settled cozily at 150 W. Church Street.
The latest marker joins a series of granite markers lining the sidewalks of Church Street. These markers chronicle the city's pivotal moments, from its incorporation to noteworthy milestones such as hiring its first female police officer and the cultural significance marked by the Texas International Pop Festival. Each piece embedded into the ground is a testament to the steps taken over a hundred years that have molded the city into its current iteration.
The dedication ceremony is a free public event for everyone to enjoy and reflect on. Attendees can park at City Hall or in nearby street parking.
