
Long Beach residents ushered in the New Year amid unsettling gun violence, with the Long Beach Police Department reporting two separate no-hit shootings early on New Year's Day. According to the official LBPD Blotter, the first incident occurred at around 12:35 a.m. in the 1000 block of Cherry Avenue, where officers found a vehicle had been hit by gunfire.
The second shooting was reported just minutes earlier, at approximately 12:31 a.m., in the 1400 block of Linden Avenue, where yet another vehicle was struck by bullets. Despite the proximity in time, and location of these shootings, authorities have not suggested that the incidents are connected.
In both cases, no injuries were reported and, police are currently in the dark regarding suspect information or a motive for the shootings. The LBPD affirms that the investigations into both shootings are actively ongoing.
