
A pedestrian was hit by a Lorain police cruiser on New Year's Eve as the vehicle was transporting an arrested person. The incident occurred just after 10 p.m. near Broadway Avenue and W. 32nd Street when a 48-year-old woman reportedly walked into the road. "The officer attempted to swerve to avoid the pedestrian but was unable to prevent contact, striking the pedestrian with the front driver’s side of the cruiser,” reported FOX 8.
Surviving the collision with "noticeable injuries," the unidentified woman remained "alert and aware." At the same time, being transported to UH Elyria Medical Center by Lifecare EMS, as Captain Jacob Morris of Lorain Police disclosed. To immediately and thoroughly investigate the incident's circumstances, the Lorain Police Traffic Investigations Bureau has initiated a full reconstruction, with Ohio State Highway Patrol also providing assistance, noted Cleveland 19.
No charges have been filed in the wake of the crash, and the Lorain Police Department is actively seeking information from the public.
