Yesterday, a section of exterior wall collapsed on West Del Norte Street in Mount Washington, triggering a technical rescue operation by the Los Angeles Fire Department. According to the initial LAFD alert, the incident occurred at approximately 12:32 PM at 416 W Del Norte St, with reports of one person being trapped.
The victim was found to be "alert and breathing normally" as firefighters, paramedics, and LAFD’s elite Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) teams responded to the scene to evaluate the situation and strategize the necessary actions for rescue, as per the LAFD.
Despite the potential chaos of a wall collapse, the response was swift and coordinated. The LAFD's update on the rescue effort stated that "Firefighters and USAR Personnel on scene rescued and evaluated one victim." This individual was transported to a local hospital for further medical care, according to a subsequent LAFD update. A range of LAFD resources, including Battalion Chiefs, Engine Companies, paramedics, and multiple urban search and Rescue task forces, conducted the efforts at the site.
