A fire that erupted in a two-story apartment building in Watts was quickly subdued by the Los Angeles Fire Department on Tuesday afternoon. According to an LAFD alert, smoke was observed at the structure located at 11327 S Gorman Ave. Firefighting teams were in offensive mode as they addressed the blaze in the predominantly residential community.
The incident, identified as INC#1248, was reported by the LAFD alert system, noting that "18 firefighters on scene achieved knockdown in 18 minutes." The fire was limited to a single unit on the building's second floor, which is a part of a government housing complex.
Fortunately, there were no injuries or deaths reported as a result of the incident. The LAFD was also able to prevent the fire from spreading to adjacent units, also known as exposures, which could have resulted in a more devastating outcome for residents and the structure itself. Fire Station 65 along with Battalion 13 were cited as the primary response teams in the effort to douse the flames.
