Earlier today, firefighters from the Los Angeles Fire Department were dispatched to a report of a structure fire in Green Meadows. At approximately 11:34 AM, crews arrived at the scene of a small single-family dwelling at 11669 S Avalon Bl, where they observed flames visible from the building, as reported by the LAFD alert. Firefighters initiated an offensive attack in an attempt to contain and extinguish the blaze.
However, the situation escalated when the fire broke through the roof of the structure, which was noted as being a boarded-up location and a site of a previous burn. According to an update from the LAFD, the firefighters were then forced to switch to a defensive mode to battle the fire.
The efforts of the LAFD ultimately led to a "knockdown" of the fire by 12:07 PM, 32 minutes after the first units arrived on the scene. In total, 20 firefighters worked collaboratively to subdue the flames and prevent further damage to surrounding properties. A detailed account by the LAFD's alert noted that the knockdown was achieved without any injuries.
