
A two-story single-family home in Granada Hills was enveloped in heavy smoke last night as the Los Angeles Fire Department responded to a structure fire on Zelzah Avenue. According to the official LAFD alert, the incident, logged as INC#1821, was reported at 10:23 PM at 10860 N Zelzah Av. Firefighters immediately went into offensive mode to control the blaze that was showing from the attic vents of the residence.
The fire was swiftly extinguished within 19 minutes of the fire department's arrival. A total of 34 firefighters tackled the fire, achieving a knockdown by 10:42 PM. "Interior fire attack located fire on the first floor with initial reports indicating a Christmas tree as possible origin," revealed the follow-up LAFD statement. There were no injuries reported, and all occupants had safely evacuated the home prior to the arrival of the LAFD.
The precise cause of the fire is currently under investigation; however, initial indications suggest that a Christmas tree may have been the source of the fire.
Council District 12, which includes Granada Hills, will be monitoring the aftermath of the incident. Firefighting units, including Battalion Chiefs, Command Staff, and multiple engine and truck companies, were among the dispatched resources noted in the incident report.
