Jansyel Hernandez, 22, pleaded guilty in a Boston federal court to possession with intent to distribute fentanyl, cocaine, and methamphetamine. His co-defendant, Juan Ramos, was sentenced to 90 months in October 2023, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.
The case started in April 2023 when an apartment in Lynn was suspected of being rented under a false identity and was later connected to drug distribution. Hernandez and Ramos were arrested on May 2, 2023, after an escape attempt. At the time, Ramos was out on pretrial release for a separate domestic violence case and was wearing a GPS bracelet, which showed he had visited the apartment multiple times, as reported by the U.S. Attorney's Office.
Hernandez pled guilty to drug trafficking after authorities found 1200 grams of drugs, including fentanyl, and drug-related equipment in his apartment. They also discovered a .38 caliber Taurus revolver, a .40 caliber Glock, and 200 grams of fentanyl in his vehicle. He faces up to 20 years in prison, a fine of up to $1 million, and supervised release for 3 years to life. His sentencing is set for April 17, 2025, and will be decided by Judge Patti B. Saris, as stated by the U.S. Attorney's Office.
