Madras Dosa Co. is bringing the vibrant flavors of South India to the bustling streets of Midtown with a mouth-watering array of dosas, chaats, and other Indian delicacies. Set to make its New York City debut tomorrow, January 17, the Boston-born fast-casual chain will open at 1450 Broadway near West 41st Street, according to Eater New York.
The concept is fairly straightforward but teeming with possibilities: choose a dosa base and pile it with a variety of fillings from the likes of paneer, spicy potatoes to beef then top it all off with eggs or cheese, as reported by Fast Casual. The interactive menu also comes with a trio of dips including Coconut Chutney, Ginger Chutney, and Lentil Soup aiming to cater to the diverse palates of the city’s food enthusiasts; there will be exclusive dishes too like the pesarattu, a crepe made with green lentils, and uttapam tacos, which creatively marry South Indian cuisine with a Mexican staple.
Koushik "Babu" Koganti, CEO and co-founder of Madras Dosa Co., expressed his excitement for the expansion, stating, "We are excited to bring a taste of South India to New York," and highlighting the brand's commitment to reflecting the diversity of Indian culture through its varied culinary offerings in a statement obtained by Fast Casual. Their mission is not just about dishing out tasty bites; it's about challenging and broadening perceptions of Indian cuisine.
The Times Square location of Madras Dosa Co. will not only be a feast for the taste buds but also an experience for the eyes with floral arrangements provided by Floratorium and a locally inspired mural by artists Felipe Umbral and Majo Barajas, the chain has plans to expand its culinary footprint further by opening three additional Manhattan locales throughout 2025 so keep an eye out for more South Indian flavor popping up in the city.
