Early this morning, a crash on the westbound side of Interstate 4 near the Thonotosassa Rd. exit in the Plant City area brought traffic to a near standstill. As reported by WFLA, the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) arrived on the scene shortly after the incident occurred around 6:00 a.m. and initially closed all lanes to traffic.
The westbound lanes were closed for a time, resulting in a backup that stretched for miles and lasted for hours, according to FOX 13. Although the eastbound lanes of I-4 remained open, travelers faced delays due to the incident on the opposite side.
The Tampa Bay Times noted that the crash happened at mile marker 19, just west of the Thonotosassa Road exit.
