
A New Year's Eve incident at Sullivan Square MBTA station resulted in the apprehension of a 31-year-old man after MBTA Transit Police reported he had destroyed fare gate equipment. According to a social media post by MBTA Transit Police, the individual, whose identity was not immediately released, allegedly broke the fare gate around 2:45 p.m. in an effort to bypass payment requirements. MBTA officers were already present at the scene and when they approached the man, he reportedly became confrontational and attempted to assault the officers.
