Authorities have arrested a man after he reportedly shot at a bus at an assisted living facility in Brooksville, Florida. According to WFLA, the incident occurred on Monday when Mckenzi Finn, a 20-year-old resident of the Hillendale Cares facility, fired a weapon multiple times in the direction of the vehicle after becoming upset over transportation issues.
Hernando County deputies were called to the scene around 4:50 p.m., where they quickly apprehended Finn. The situation escalated after a bus driver, already committed to transporting another resident, informed Finn that he could not be accommodated at that moment. Staff at the Hillendale Cares facility redirected Finn to clean his room while they sought alternate transportation options for him.
The driver, who experienced the chilling moment of witnessing shots fired in his direction, assessed the bus for any potential harm and confirmed his own safety before returning to the facility, as detailed by WTSP. In a swift response to the disturbance, law enforcement officers located the 20-year-old inside the establishment and took him into custody.
Following the issuance of a search warrant, officials discovered the firearm concealed in a common-area bathroom ceiling, with ammunition being found in Finn's bedroom, as reported by FOX 13. Charged with multiple offenses, including aggravated assault and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, the suspect has been booked into the Hernando County Detention Center.
