A deadly traffic incident on Bellfort Street is under investigation by Houston authorities, following an event last Friday morning that has left a man dead and a community searching for answers. The crash, which happened around 8 a.m. at 7500 Bellfort Street, claimed the life of a 69-year-old man whose name has not yet been released, pending identification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

Reported by HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant E. Alejandro and Officer Z. Alikhan, the accident involved a man who was originally in a separate collision. He found himself on the embankment when he tried escaping an oncoming vehicle. A 39-year-old woman driving a black Chevrolet Impala was maneuvering to avoid the pre-existing accident. As she steered the car, she struck the guardrail, triggering a series of tragic events. According to the official release, the man jumped over the guardrail onto a grassy area beneath the bridge in an attempt to avoid the Impala but sadly sustained injuries leading to his death at Ben Taub General Hospital.

Paramedics from the Houston Fire Department were on the scene to transport the victim, where he was later pronounced dead. The driver of the Impala, who stopped after the crash and was cooperative with investigators, has not been charged as impairment was ruled out during the initial questioning. As per the HPD, she has been released while the probe into the crash carries on.
