San Antonio's East Side was confronted with tragedy as a man was left dead following a shooting incident yesterday evening. KSAT reports that the San Antonio Police Department began their investigation after a man, whose identity remains undisclosed, was found fatally shot around 9:30 p.m. on the 2000 block of Schley Ave. Despite several addresses being associated with the reported shots fired, authorities were able to locate at least 10 shell casings at the scene.
Amid the chaos, an innocent homeowner became an unintended victim, as a stray bullet infiltrated his domicile striking him. The man injured inside his own home, whose connection to the violence appears merely coincidental, was transported to the hospital and is said to be in stable condition. However, there currently are no suspects, nor any information on the vehicle potentially involved, according to the San Antonio Police Department.
The event is depicted as intentional rather than random, a possible targeted attack that disrupted the night and invaded an unsuspecting bystander’s home. According to News 4 San Antonio, the deceased was found with a group, suggesting a collective element to the incident. Investigators at the scene collected evidence of multiple firearms based on the variety of shell casings recovered.
Police were alerted to the shooting by neighbors who heard the gunfire. The investigation is ongoing and police are seeking the public's assistance for any leads that could bring clarity and justice to this violent night on the East Side.
