
Tragedy struck yesterday evening when a man was fatally hit by a vehicle while attempting to navigate the expanse of the North Freeway. The incident occurred at approximately 8:30 p.m. near the 3500 block of North Interstate Highway 45. According to the Houston Police, the victim, a 38-year-old male whose name has yet to be released, was crossing the freeway's main lanes when the collision took place.
The man was struck by a northbound black Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck. Authorities reported that the 59-year-old male driver of the Silverado subsequently took an exit and made contact with police before returning to the scene. Returning to the scene, the Houston Fire Department paramedics were soon dispatching the injured male to Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center, where unfortunately, his injuries proved too severe and he was pronounced deceased.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant J. Richards and Officer C. Brothers have been managing the investigation. In their preliminary inquiries, the driver involved in the incident was found not to be under the influence at the time and was released after questioning. Despite the release, the investigation into the causes and circumstances surrounding the collision remains ongoing. The Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences is also working in tandem, engaged in the process of formally identifying the deceased.
