A fatal incident in Northeast Philadelphia's Bustleton section left one man dead, following an apparent stabbing in an apartment complex, local authorities reported. According to CBS News Philadelphia, the 59-year-old victim was discovered on the 9600 block of Bustleton Avenue with a multitude of stab wounds ranging between 15 to 20 in number; medics pronounced him dead shortly before 4 p.m. yesterday.
The Philadelphia Police, yet to recover any weapon from the crime scene and still searching for a suspect, actively seek the help of the public, they have not made any arrests according to NBC Philadelphia, who responded to the bloody scene after a 911 call brought officers to the apartment complex slightly past the reported time of death. Calls have been made by officials for anyone with salient information to step forward and assist in bringing resolution to this open homicide case.
Complicating the matter is the anonymity in which the victim remains shrouded; the identity of the man whose life was abruptly ended in that Bustleton kitchen is yet to be disclosed to the public. While announcing their continued investigation, police issued a statement inviting tips, as 6ABC reports, asking individuals with insights into the incident to contact the Homicide Unit directly or to deliver information anonymously through the established tip line.
Community members are urged to call 215-686-3334 or utilize the Philadelphia Police Department's tip line at 215-686-TIPS (8477), hoping the shared responsibility of ensuring safety within the shared spaces of the city could yield threads to weave together the story of what transpired during those fatal moments, and crucially, police say, to determine who is responsible for the violent turmoil that has once again stirred the heart of Bustleton.
