A fatal incident occurred over the weekend in East Harris County where a man was killed after he drove through a crash scene on the East Freeway, hitting a tow truck and a Harris County Sheriff's Office (HCSO) patrol car. According to Click2Houston, the crash took place near Sheldon Road.
The scene of the crash was already under investigation by the deputies due to a prior fatal accident. It was during this investigation when the man, whose identity has not yet been released, drove his vehicle into the designated area, colliding with the tow truck and the patrol car. He was pronounced dead at the scene; the cause of the crash remains under investigation, as stated by Sheriff Ed Gonzalez.
Furthermore, two tow truck drivers were taken to the hospital following the crash. As per CW39, their injuries were reported to be minor. An HCSO deputy also sustained minor injuries while trying to rescue the driver, although, he was not treated and was confirmed to be in a stable condition by Sheriff Gonzalez.
