A violent altercation at Dilworth Park in Center City resulted in a man being stabbed in the face, according to NBC Philadelphia. Police reported the incident took place around 4:00 p.m. on Monday, near the stairwell leading to SEPTA's 15th Street Station, where a 25-year-old male victim encountered a brutal attack following an argument with another man.
The confrontation escalated quickly and the suspect, later identified by the authorities as Azariah Ellerba, or Corbin Ellerbe, a 34-year-old from South Philadelphia, allegedly withdrew a knife and stabbed the victim once in the face. The victim, now recovering in stable condition at the hospital, told officers that the unanticipated violence arose from a dispute gone awry and Ellerba was promptly apprehended and taken into custody without further incident. A continued exposure to distressing episodes at the park has marked the second such occurrence in December following a shooting incident that left three teens injured, as reported by 6abc Action News.
Confirming the arrest CBS Philadelphia detailed that Ellerba faces charges including aggravated assault, possessing an instrument of crime, simple assault, and recklessly endangering another person. The victim, whose name has not been released, was promptly taken to Jefferson Hospital where he remains in stable condition.
